Governor Appoints Marian Ott
To Election Finance Registry Committee

Nashville-Governor Phil Bredesen today named Marian Ott to
fill a vacancy on the Tennessee Election Finance Registery.
The Tennessee Registry of Election Finance is an independent state
government agency that enforces laws regarding campaign finance, lobbyist registration
disclosure, and conflict of interests disclosure.
Mrs. Ottt from Nashville is 48 and she is the former executive
director of the Regional Transportation Authority, a nine county regional agency crested by the
State to plan and develop a regional system for Middle Tennessee. She served in that capacity
from 1991 to 1998, where she initiated the first regional bus route and promoted the development
of the first occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes
From 1982 to 1987, Ott was the assistant general manager for the
Metro Transit Authority in Nashville. She holds a bachelor’s degree in science and engineering
from Princeton University, New Jersey, and a master’s degree in civil engineering and
transportation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts
.
Ott currently serves as chairman of Nashville’s Metro Transit
Authority. She is also vice chairman of Cumberland Region Tomorrow, and is a past president of
the League of Women Voters of Nashville. she will serve on the Registery through December 30,
2007.
